On Saturday Dec 6, at 7 pm, a stunning program of Christmas Choral Music will be performed by Cantores Celestes Maritimes and the Saint John Men's Chorus under the direction of artistic director, Kelly Galbraith. These highly trained choristers will sing music from all eras that will delight and inspire. They will be joined by the Cantores Celestes String Quartet, and fabulous collaborative accompanists Emily Shute and Dr. Kevin Langford.
The concert will feature selections from the famous 'Ceremony of Carols' by Benjamin Britten, and gorgeous music for 8 part harmony written by Michael Praetorius 'In Dulci Jubilo', and 6 part harmony of David MacIntyre's 'Ave Maria', and Stephan Main's 'The Darkest Midnight in December'. There are exciting arrangements of 'Rise Up Shepherd and Follow', 'Deck the Hall', 'The First Noel, and 'Angels from the Realms of Glory' that will feature the instrumentalists and choir member, Scott Dincorn on percussion. Baroque composer Niccola Porpora's 'Magnificat' with strings, will surely become a new Christmas favourite. And of course, what concert will be more thrilling, than to hear both choirs sing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus with strings?
A $500 donation will be given to a local charity.
'Gabriel's Message' will be held in the beautiful acoustics of spacious Stella Maris Church on 201 Bayside Drive. General Admission $25, Wheelchair accessible.
